Catamaran sur la Costa

On day two, the 23 catamarans taking part in the Costarmoricaine 2025 - Mondial des Raids were still sailing fast. Although the sky was overcast with a few squalls at the finish, the wind was still blowing so strongly that the committee decided to go ahead with the long course. The latter added a rounding of Tomé Island at the end of the course, extending it to 40nm, which the first competitor completed in 03h32m, averaging over 11 knots.

Emeric Dary and David Fanouillère's FRA7 won for the second time in Formula 18, followed by Charles Caudrelier and Maxime Hainneville's FRA10. In the Viper class, Thomas and his daughter Eilin Gorgues won the second leg. The gaps in the overall classification are naturally widening, but nothing is decided yet. A number of crews failed to finish today: Vincent Blockeel's BEL24 and Peter Vaes collided with a sailing school catamaran, but finished by their own mean. FRA 29 (Ghislain Melaine and Jean-Jacques Redon) and FRA 2594 (Adrien Leclere and Thomas Breard) also retired.

Another change in the rankings concerns the first leg, with 3 boats: GBR523 (Nathaniel Ward), FRA822 (Stéphane Kumer), and FRA2594 (Adrien Leclere) being penalized 10 minutes for failing to pass on the right side of the “Les Calmarguiers” mark.

The catamarans will be welcomed this evening by the town of Perros-Guirec, partner of the event. A prize-giving ceremony was followed by dinner in a seaside restaurant. They will set off again tomorrow morning for the longuest leg to Plérin-sur-Mer.
