The 2026 Costarmoricaine have well begun and will crown the Formula 18 Raid World Champions. The sailors from Costarmoricaine are reunited with many familiar faces, including Emeric Dary and David Fanouillère (FRA7), who won the Formula 18 class in 2025, and Thomas Gorgues and his daughter Eilin (FRA1969), who also won the Viper class in 2025. This year, many teams are in contention for the title, including past winners of the event such as Arthur and Laetitia Boc-Ho (winners in 2019, 2nd in 2024). Charles and Maxime Hainneville, members of the CVBE and 2014 champions, are back, having managed to secure a Formula 18 for the event. Notable newcomers include Rasmus Rosengren and Ekefalk Thomas (Royal Swedish Yacht Club, KSSS, Sweden), who won the European Championship on July 10 in Dervio, Italy.

On August 5th, the first leg from Erquy to Bréhat Island in the Costarmoricaine — the Formula 18 World Raid Championship — was very fast, as the leaders covered the 28 miles in just 3h14m, even while tacking. Emeric Dary and David Fanouillère (FRA7) took the win in the Formula 18 class, while Luc and Bruno Stephan won in the Viper class. The fleet remained tightly bunched, with finishers arriving within about 40 minutes of each other.

The wind remained steady all day and was ideal for sailing, shifting to the northwest along the final leg from the center of Saint-Brieuc’s bay toward the Bréhat Archipelago. The catamarans therefore began tacking shortly before reaching the La Roselière buoy. The finish took place under sunny skies, well ahead of schedule.
